April 28th, 2015 – weekly land trust news

Hi everyone,

We had a good and successful trip back to DC last week. Lots of meetings and strong support for COLT’s two main federal policy priorities: reauthorizing LWCF and making permanent the enhanced easement incentive. I’m preparing a briefing on our meetings and will send it out to everyone when it is completed.

For those interested in the proposed new rules for NRCS’s ACEP programs, the comment period was extended from April 28th until May 28th. You can read the rules and comment here on this website. LTA also put together some of their own comments on the rules you can read here.

NRCS staff in Portland created a nice summary sheet of changes in the program with this PDF. And for those who just can’t get enough, NRCS also staff put together this comprehensive PowerPoint on the whole program that has a lot of good information.

ACEP / ALE applications are due May 15th, coming up quickly.

There are a few new conservation jobs that came across our radar screen this past week, listed below. Please be sure to check them out and / or pass them along.

And some great news!! We’ll have a more formal announcement soon, but we wanted to let everyone know that the Pacific Forest Trust is the newest member of COLT!! At the April 15th board meeting, the board unanimously approved PFT’s application. We are very excited to recognize them officially as one of the COLT’ers, which brings our land trust family up to 20. 🙂

Finally, if you will be in PDX on May 7th, be sure to come by COLT’s open house from 2-7pm! More details forthcoming…

Hope everyone has a great week.
