COLT’s weekly land trust news

August 25th, 2015

Hi folks.

Last week we sent out an invitation to a number of partners to a Forest Legacy 25th Anniversary event we were hosting at Wallowa Lake on August 31st; it was also included in last week’s news to you all as well.

However, in light of the severe forest fires and the tremendous efforts being directed towards them, we decided to postpone the event. Celebrating the Forest Legacy program is part of a national effort to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund. However, honoring all the work of those partners working on the wildfires is a current, collective priority for all involved. We’ll keep you posted as to when this event will be rescheduled.

Speaking of LWCF, last Friday the 21st, Kelley was asked to join Jefferson Public Radio’s Jefferson Exchange to talk about LWCF and its role here in Oregon. Megan Wargo of the Pacific Crest Trail Association also joined the program. Listen to the 22-minute conversation here.

Finally, set your calendars: we have our next COLT board meeting set for November 5th and 6th here in Portland. More details forthcoming.

Have a great week,
