July 13th – weekly land trust news

Many thanks to the Wallowa Land Trust for hosting COLT’s July board meeting. With amazing scenery, inspiring projects, nourishing food, and good people, the days in the Wallowas were very memorable. Check out the photo album on Facebook.

COLT’s weekly land trust news

July 14th, 2015

Hi folks.

It was great to see 13 of COLT’s 20 member land trusts able to make the long and worthwhile journey to Wallowa County last week for our board meeting July 9th and 10th. We can’t thank Wallowa Land Trust enough for their efforts in making the few days a great success.

Please enjoy the photo album of the days’ activities.

A few other matters before the week’s news:

Regional conservation meetings
Upcoming Oregon Conservation Partnership regional meetings include:

Enhanced conservation easement tax incentive
The Senate Finance Committee is expected to take up a package of tax incentives this week (scroll down a bit in the article), including the enhanced conservation easement tax incentive. Although the Alliance, COLT, and many other groups continue to push to make this permanent, it appears the SFC will be looking at a two-year extension. COLT has a strong partnership with the Oregon Food Bank and the Nonprofit Association of Oregon working on this issue, and we continue to talk with Sen. Wyden’s staff to achieve the best outcome. We’ll keep you posted.

Finally, if you do not receive the helpful updates from Bruce Taylor with the Oregon Habitat Joint Venture, his latest email has a wealth of useful information related to the Legislative session, OWEB, federal budgets, sage grouse, Willamette Wildlife Mitigation program, and more. Here ya go.

On to the delayed weekly news. Enjoy the week!
