March 30th, 2015 – weekly land trust news

Hi everyone,

Wallowa Land Trust is applying for accreditation through LTA this year. As part of this process. the Accreditation Commission is soliciting public comments on WLT’s application. If you’d like to make a comment and provide feedback, you can do it through this website. Alternatively, you can email any comments to: info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments are due by May 24th.

On Friday of last week, we got good news that Senators Wyden and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), along with four other Senators, introduced legislation in the Senate that would permanently authorize and fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). COLT will continue to work with our partners across the country to help see this legislation, S. 890, through to reality. LWCF, over it’s 50-year history, has provided over $300 million to Oregon for conservation projects. Many of COLT’s members utilize LWCF programs as part of their conservation efforts.

On a different topic, everyone managing websites should be aware that on April 21st, Google will start prioritizing mobile-friendly websites via its search engines. With 60% of web traffic now done through mobile devices, if your organization does not have a mobile-friendly website, it is about time to make that switch. To test whether your site meets the standards, Google has a nifty tool you can use here.

Hope that may be of some use.

And now to the rest of the news this week:
