March 6, 2017: Spotlight on Chalfant, new grant opps, and more

COLT’s weekly land trust news

Monday March 6, 2017

North Coast Land Conservancy has a great new blog post, Shaping the Coastal Edge. This photo from Neal Maine look south from Ecola Point north of Cannon Beach, showing the horizon of the Coastal Edge.

Happy (and somewhat snowy) Monday everyone,

Many thanks to the board members who travelled or took time last week to join our board meeting on Thursday the 2nd. We had good discussions on everything from conservation under the new administration, to our collective communications strategies, to COLT’s legislative priorities, and more. Plus, it is always good to gather together.

Regarding the 2017 Oregon Legislative Session, starting with next Monday’s e-news we will begin to share a weekly spreadsheet of bills COLT is tracking that impact the work of land trusts. So stay tuned.

For those who have been hoping to attend Land Camp but haven’t either registered or applied for a scholarship, registration is unfortunately already full. We are taking names for a wait list, as there may still be a few spots available.

Finally, there was quite a bit of ancillary conservation news that came across our cyber desks last week, much of which can be found below, along with a few new grant opportunities as well. Enjoy!

Wishing you all a good week.

All the best,

Mike Running
Communication and Outreach Manager
