Thursday January 15th, 2015 – Today, COLT staff and members of The Nature Conservancy of Oregon and The Wetlands Conservancy met with Representative Suzanne Bonamici to share stories and priorities around conservation in Oregon. The Congresswoman’s district includes Clatsop, Columbia, Washington, and Yamhill Counties, Southwest Portland and part of Multnomah County. Among the Congresswoman’s committees, Rep. Bonamici is the ranking member on the House Science and Technology Subcommittee on the Environment.

We spoke with the Congresswoman about the mission and members of the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts, and introduced our new State of the Lands report, particularly highlighting the North Coast Land Conservancy’s Highway 101 flood-abatement project completed last year. The Congresswoman was also pleased to hear of ways land trusts are partnering with agencies on critical projects, often accomplishing more than what either a nonprofit or agency can do on their own.

We are grateful for Rep. Bonamici’s strong support for our conservation priorities, including reauthorizing the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
