What We Do
Deschutes Land Trust, Camp Polk Meadow Preserve
The Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts accomplishes our mission of serving and strengthening the land trust community in Oregon through public policies and programs that support land conservation, helping to build capacity within and across land trusts, and communicating to key audiences about the role of land trusts in conserving Oregon’s natural heritage and our healthy human communities that depend on it. There are currently 19 land trusts that are members of COLT.
The Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) is stepping up to address these urgent needs and develop the land conservation capacity that the state of Oregon and Oregonians deserve. COLT will address this need through four areas of strategic focus:
- Capacity Building: COLT, in partnership with the Land Trust Alliance, will ensure that individual land trusts increase their organizational capacity and that the land trust community addresses geographic gaps in land trust coverage and improves land trust sustainability.
- Policy: COLT will create a strong, coordinated voice for Oregon’s land trust community in order to provide leadership and consistent representation on relevant state and national policy and funding issues that advance voluntary land conservation in Oregon
- Outreach and Communication: COLT will help to build and strengthen support for voluntary private land conservation and recognition of its benefits to Oregon communities
- Fundraising and Donor Relations: COLT will build upon that increased support to “grow the pie” of funding (public and private), leverage the investments of its founding investors, and raise sufficient resources in pursuit of COLT’s mission to serve and strengthen Oregon’s land trust community.
