HB 2729 Final stride—help with the Oregon Agricultural Heritage Program (OAHP)

Hello Oregon land trust leaders, We are in the final weeks of the 2019 Oregon Legislative Session and want to update you on the status of COLT’s legislative priorities and let you know how you can help! Oregon lost 340,000 acres of agricultural land between 2012-2017. We need funding for policy solutions now that protect farm and ranch lands with high conservation value. This program is ready to run as soon as it receives funding.

What you can do:

1. Thank the HB 2729 chief sponsors and cosponsors for their leadership and ask that they advocate for OAHP funding this session!

2. Contact your local legislator and urge them to support funding for HB 2729. You can find out who your legislators are hereDownload instructions for calling your legislators.

3. Contact members of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means, the Subcommittee on Natural ResourcesSenate President Peter Courtney, and House Speaker Tina Kotek to urge them that funding for OAHP cannot wait another two years. We must fund this program at some level this year to support policies that prevent further loss of agricultural lands and the important public benefits that they provide!

Thank you!!
