We’re Hiring a Summer Legal Extern!

Job Announcement

The Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) is seeking a part-time summer legal extern to support COLT’ pro bono legal program. COLT is a statewide coalition, whose mission is to strengthen and support the land trust community in Oregon. The pro bono program provides free legal services to COLT’s member land trusts regarding land transactions, including the facilitation of Tribal land access and land ownership.  

The summer legal extern will provide critical capacity in researching, drafting, and  compiling legal tools for land trusts to use in completing conservation transactions. The extern will work closely with our full internal team and many of our member  organizations.  

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates must be currently enrolled in law school or a recent law school graduate with prior experience, coursework, or interest in real estate transactions and/or Federal Indian law. This person should have a motivated self-starter attitude and  ability to work independently.

About the Oregon Land Justice Project

The ultimate goal of the Oregon Land Justice Project is to expand Indigenous access, ownership, and stewardship of land. To achieve this goal, land trusts in Oregon are committing time, energy, and resources into a Learning Journey which seeks to transform knowledge, thinking, and action to ultimately repair relationships, grant legal access, and share and repatriate land to Northwest Indigenous communities.
